quality health care to all Minnesotans.
- Marsha supported affordable health care expansion for 37,000 Minnesota children.
- Marsha sponsored a bill to construct a private mental health facility for children and
adolescents in Woodbury.
- The 2008 Health Care Reform Bill, which Marsha supported, will lower costs, make
health care more affordable, extend coverage to the uninsured, and restructure health
care payments.
- Marsha supports allowing small businesses access to MinnesotaCare as an innovative
option to provide employee health care.
- As one way to lower health costs, Marsha supports bulk purchasing of prescription drugs.
- Marsha voted to create a pioneering Biomedical Research Facility at the
University of Minnesota.
- Working with the Health Department and Pollution Control Agency, Marsha supported
efforts to protect Woodbury water quality.
Transportation
As Woodbury’s voice at the Capitol, Marsha worked to
lower property taxes and rebuild our infrastructure.
- Marsha’s support of a bi-partisan, landmark transportation law means crucial investments
are already being made to our aging roads and bridges
- Marsha’s support of the “Road & Bridge Safety Improvement Act” means Woodbury
property taxpayers should see relief from fnancing local road projects, a burden that
has grown to 12% of the 2008 city tax levy.
- Marsha supported expansion of the property tax refund program that increases
maximum property tax refunds by 27.5%.
- To thank our veterans and active military, Marsha voted for a military service credit and
combat zone credit to ease the tax burden for those who have served our country.
- Marsha delivered on her commitment to balance the state budget without raising taxes.

Education
As Woodbury’s voice at the Capitol, Marsha has worked tirelessly with all sides
to restore $1 million in funding to South Washington County schools
to make voluntary, all day kindergarten available to students
to halt double digit higher education tuition increases
to build a cutting edge Biomedical Research Facility at the University of Minnesota
to increase the per pupil funding statewide by $51
to increase the per pupil funding so gifted and talented programs
may be offered state wide
to create the Minnesota GI Bill so post-9/11 veterans can further their education
